Rab started holding classical music concerts in 1985, and during their decades-long history, the Rab Musical Evenings have hosted hundreds of performers, soloists, ensembles, symphony orchestras, quartets, etc., many of who are world-renowned. Rab Musical Evenings are an essential and indispensable classical music segment of the cultural and tourist offer of Rab, and, in addition to the performances of renowned artists, the festival strives to offer an opportunity to young musicians who are just starting their careers but who have already proved their talent and received awards and recognition for their artistic work. The first artistic director was Rahilka Burzavska. Since 2016, the Rab Musical Evenings have been under the artistic direction of Prof. Ljerka Očić, DA, a prominent Croatian music artist, full professor at the Academy of Music in Zagreb and vice dean of international and interinstitutional cooperation.
